Football Stadium Cookies

how to make football stadium decorated cookies ... such a cute addition to a football cookie platter!

I take no credit for this idea. Zero, nada.

Sometimes it's hard to trace a cookie idea back to the creator. Sometimes two people have the same idea for a cookie at the same time. It's true! It's happened to me...many times! These little stadium cookies with the sprinkle fans? Well...in 2012, Lizy B made them, then Sue from Munchkin Munchies (along with the cutest footballs), then Ali Bee, then Sweet Sugarbelle.

I know there must be hundreds more examples online, but y'all...this is all of the cookie sleuthing I have time for. Let me just throw out a thank you to an early 1960's housewive decorating cookies in a day dress and pearls, making these cookies with no blog or Instagram to document it. Thank you, Betty! (Her name is Betty. Betty Draper. OK, maybe not.)

So, let me walk you through how I made these to go along with the Texas A&M cookie set. One thing I love about them is that they really add a burst of color to the collection.

Texas A&M Aggies Football Cookies

Texas A&M Aggies Football decorated cookies

We don't have a family connection to Texas A&M, but boy, do we ever have a list of friends a mile long who are Aggies. Several of Jack's friends headed to A&M this fall, so some cookies were in order. You know how I love a care package.

Texas A&M Aggies Football decorated cookies: step-by-step tutorial for making football player cookies #gigem

If you're not very familiar with Texas A&M, you should know this. Aggies are fiercely loyal...and they have so many long-standing traditions. Just watch (and listen) to the crowd at an Aggie football game. It's pretty impressive.

In this post, I'll walk you through making the football player cookies, using Sweet Sugarbelle's cookie cutter and stencil. The football player shape and stencil come in the Sugarbelle Shape Shifter set. Later this week, I'll post the tutorial for making the football stands.

Obviously, you can use this tutorial to make football player cookies for ANY team, just swap the colors.

Pumpkin Patch Cupcakes

spiced pumpkin cupcakes, topped with buttercream, crushed cookies, and the cutest marzipan pumpkins

Need cupcakes to bring to a fall party or a special celebration? I have them for you: Pumpkin Patch Cupcakes.

They are every bit as delicious as they are cute. Let me describe them: a fall-spiced, pumpkin cupcake that is topped with vanilla buttercream, crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, and the absolute cutest ever marzipan pumpkins.

Seriously, if you hear of a job opening for a marzipan pumpkin maker, please let me know. I could do this ALL DAY LONG. Making them is strangely therapeutic, almost massage-equivalent.

How to Make a Chocolate Nest

Yes, it's October and not spring, so that does beg the question...
"Why would you WANT to make a chocolate nest?"

In my case, it was for an Empty Nest theme. Each year, the high school Jack graduated from holds a trivia night. Each table comes up with a theme, decorates a table, dresses in costume, and plans a meal for their group. The couples at our table are all now empty nesters.

Team Empty Nesters! I guess you can say that we had a good time...

This chocolate empty nest rested atop a three-layer cake. More on that cake in a future blog post. I don't have any photos of the cake as I assembled it at the event and was having too much fun to photograph it. You DO need to know about that cake, though. I think I'll make it when Jack is home for fall break.

Sweet on Trader Joe's Sunday: Pumpkin Ginger Hold the Cone

Trader Joe's Pumpkin Ginger Hold the Cone (mini ice cream cones) review

We've reviewed traditional chocolate Hold the Cones; we've reviewed Pumpkin Ginger Ice Cream Mouthfuls. Both of them received the full 5 stars from both Jack and me. How could we possibly pass up the Pumpkin Ginger Hold the Cone mini ice cream cones? And will they live up to their predecessors, especially now with Mr. E taking over Jack's reviewing post?

Pumpkin Ginger Hold the Cones are mini ice cream cones...pumpkin ice cream, a ginger cone, and white confectionery coating dip. The cones are small, 3 per serving. A box of 8 cones costs $2.99.
