About Bake at 350 . . .

Hi, my name is Bridget and what can I say?  I'm just a girl who loves cookies.  Baking them, decorating them, eating them...blogging about them...I do it all right here on Bake at 350.

I started decorating cookies a millennium ago...well, in 1999 to be exact...when I quit my "real" job to stay at home with my newborn baby.  The company I worked for frequently gave us those beautiful "cookies-on-a-stick" for jobs well done, or at company meetings...and I was going to MISS those cookies.  So, I set off determined to make them.

Now, these were the days before blogs, and I learned through trial and error...lots of error.  In 2007, I had a wild idea to start a cookie decorating blog and teach the simple secrets to making cute cookies.  My goal is not to show how to make the fanciest, most perfect, or most complicated cookies (I don't do those), but cookies that every home baker can recreate.  I have loved every second of this adventure in blogging!

Here's what I believe:
  • cookies are made to be eaten, not to be perfect,
  • you shouldn't need a fancy overhead projector or an art degree to make pretty cookies,
  • your time is better spent EATING cookies with family and friends than toiling over them,
  • we see our mistakes, but our families just see cute cookies.

These days, you'll find more than just decorated cookies on the blog...you'll find all kinds of goodies that will expand your waistline.  You'll even meet that precious "baby" I mentioned before, Kiddo, he's now a SOPHOMORE IN COLLEGE (go Irish!)...time flies.  And, Mr. E, my hubby pops in from time to time.  He's my chief cookie consultant and taste-tester.

What do we do with all of those cookies?  Well, if you saw me in person, you'd know that I "test" a good many of them.  We share with neighbors, teachers, friends, charities, and anybody else who will take them. ;)

I'm not taking orders anymore, but I hope with the recipes and tutorials on the blog, you'll try making them at your house!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Now, go eat a cookie! :)

If you have a recipe question, try reaching out on Twitter or Instagram. (I'm rarely on Facebook and don't use FB messenger).
