If you are looking for something simple, quick and UTTERLY DELICIOUS to make and share for Easter, I have something for you.....Bunny Bait!
This idea actually comes from darling Kellie of Nest of Posies and her Valentine Confetti.
{Why, yes, I have been dreaming about this since February.}

I followed Kellie's instructions (so pop over there for the recipe) with just a couple minor tweaks:
- I used Easter m&m's (that was probably obvious),
- and plain vanilla candy melts,
- and 2 full bags of popcorn,
- ***update*** I now use homemade popcorn, not microwave (click here for how to make perfect popcorn on your stovetop)
- and added....
...Sprinkles!
Here's my #1 tip for making Bunny Bait....
GET IT OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!
This stuff is highly addictive. Bag it up and....Put it in your kiddo's lunchbox. Send it to kiddo's teacher (Hi, Mrs. P!). Run it over to the neighbors. Send it with your hubby to work.
{And if your hubby is concerned about handing out something called "bunny bait" to his colleagues, tell him "Candied Popcorn" will work just fine.} ;)
This is SO adorable!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!

And I love how versatile this recipe is, a few simple changes for another holiday or occasion!
oh wow! I am totally making this tonight to bring to my co-workers tomorrow! I was going to make cupcakes or cookies but this is so cute and is way easier than baking and decorating sweets!

ReplyDeleteOkay I love the name! Bunny Bait!! ha ha! I make chocolate popcorn at Christmas and I agree...get it FAR away from me or I would consume the whole batch! YUM! Lovin your sprinkles in there too :)

ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how bad I want this right now. I LOVE IT Bridget!!!

ReplyDeleteMy boys would probably be VERY upset with me if I made Bunny Bait and immediately got it out of the house. So, I guess I'll have to sacrifice the waistline...
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good idea! I am so doing this, this weekend. Who doesn't love salty and sweet together. Thanks for this. Happy Easter. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

ReplyDeleteAnd I thought my "danger fat zone" was December! :) I have had trouble finding the pastel M&Ms this year--I will intensify my search! Bridget, I wish you and your family a blessed and joyous Easter!
ReplyDeleteThat is just way too cute.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!!
That is so cute! Thanks for the tip too - something to keep out of the house :-)
ReplyDeleteyou have sparked another idea... i am going to make this recipe but with regular multi colored m&m's, then add that "you're a POPular teacher" free printable as a bag topper and use it as teacher gifts this year. thanks for the spark!!!

ReplyDeleteOnce again, I knew you'd have something wonderful this week. I'm going to make this with two grand daughters coming to town tomorrow. Your presentation is perfect. Love-love the ribbon you chose. ~Molly
ReplyDeleteI made this yesterday and it is addictive!! So, so yummy and really cute. Made little bags for my kids' teachers.
ReplyDeleteOhhh I will not be making this!! I will eat it ALL. I have no will power!
ReplyDeleteSo making this with my boys! AND sharing it with my facebook fans! Fabulous idea Bridget!!
ReplyDeletevery cute idea!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this - my two little girls and I just made it a few minutes ago. :-) I used stove popped popcorn and I couldn't find any Wilton candy melts at Kroger yesterday (and didn't have time to run to Michael's, etc.), so used a log of vanilla flavored almond bark. Turned out super! My only problem was the m&m's started melting on me (separating shell from chocolate). I think next time I try I'll freeze the m&m's first to prevent? Thanks for a super Saturday before Easter project...let the sugar overload begin! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have been making this for years just without the m&m's - I make it throughout the year & use different sprinkles to coordinate with the current season or holiday. I don't mix the sprinkles in, I simply sprinkle them on after I have spread the popcorn out on wax paper to dry.
ReplyDeleteI've also made it with peanuts & raisins mixed in & it's pretty good.
Anyway, I'm going to have to try it with m&m's next time I make it.
Just made this tonight and it is amazingly addictive! Its sweet yet salty but not too much on either side. Thanks so much! I'll be having this at every holiday :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea! I love this. I may need to throw some together right now before I head to bed for tomorrow. Love, love, love.
ReplyDeleteI made this for a cook out and for my family Easter gathering over the weekend. I was very short on time and had no time to bake. This came out perfect!! And it is addictive. I added tiny pretzel sticks to stretch it and add a bit more salt. I also used the tray of vanilla flavored candy coating from the grocery store and it worked just fine. It only took the time to open the bags and microwave the popcorn and candy coating.
ReplyDeletewow!what a perfect treat for my kids. perfect idea!
ReplyDeleteLooks super yummy! And the name is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhere are those sprinkles from? I've been looking for a large size container like that but to no avail...so any info about where to get them would be very appreciated!!
SO cute, Bridget :)
ReplyDeleteThis idea is soooo cute, I love it! :) And I just adore the name, Bunny Bait.
ReplyDeleteI can see how bunny bait would be bait for anyone within a 1 mile radius. Such a fun idea though! bet that bunny had his share :)
ReplyDeleteLOVED this. Made this for my niece and nephews, and it was delicious. I added a box of butter toffee Crunch 'n Munch and used non-pariels instead of confetti sprinkles (because that's what I had on hand in spring colors) and it was SUPER good, and SUPER cute! Thanks Bridget!
ReplyDeleteI made this for Easter "thank you" gifts for my kitchen helpers at church. It turned out wonderful and they loved it! Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteCute cute cute! And great idea with the candy melts. I don't know why I didn't think of it before... every time I've used white chocolate on popcorn it would get soggy and not stay crisp. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Bridget!
now thats what i call CUTE!!!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteLOve this :) I have made it a couple times and toast almonds and toss them in as well. I have also done the carmel popcorn recipe from popcorn twists and then white chocolate etc....
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the title of the recipe: Bunny Bait!!! :D
ReplyDeleteDo you just mix it together or bake it?
ReplyDeleteI think I gained 10 pounds just looking at your pictures. You inspire me to make some of these things.
ReplyDeleteI have made this many times and it is beyond awesome, but i have a question, have you ever tried to freeze it? if so did it turn our okay?
ReplyDeleteI have made this but instead of the confetti I used sprinkles and instead of the vanilla melts I used almond bark and melted that, but this looks delicious as well-YUMMY!
ReplyDeleteWhat to make this. Where do I go to get recipe?
ReplyDeleteClick the link above and scroll past the pictures for the actual recipe. :)
DeleteThe links to the original recipe don't work. Can you post the recipe in the comments or provide a new link?
ReplyDeleteHey Valerie! The link is working just fine for me. Click the link and scroll past her pictures to the instructions. :)
DeleteLink not working for me either. I clicked the link at the top of the page and it took me to the blog, not the recipe.
DeleteScroll past all of the pictures and the instructions are written at the bottom of her post. They're not written in a traditional recipe style, so maybe that's why they're being missed. :)
Deletewhat about leprecon bait for st. patrick's day ?
