Coffee and Donuts Valentine Cookies

Coffee and Donuts Valentine Cookies
You may be thinking to yourself...I don't see any coffee cookies. Well, yes and no.

  1. I did make some cookies decorated like lattes, and they just were not cute. (Can I direct you to these cute latte ones instead?)
  2. These ARE coffee and donut cookies because the cookies are cappuccino flavored

The cut-out cookie recipe is this one that I posted yesterday. See, I told you that you'd need it! The cookies are soft, thick, and coffee-flavored - perfect for coffee and donut-themed cookies.

Heart-Shaped Donuts Valentine Cookies
To make the heart-shaped donut cookies, I used a regular heart-shaped cookie cutter. I do have small circle cutters, but I found that the back of a large icing tip was the ideal size for the center of the donut.

I cut the center circle out before baking, and immediately after removing the cookies from the oven, I used the end of the tip once more to sharpen up the center circle.

The donut cookies are "frosted" with royal icing (without the almond extract). I used Chefmaster Deep Pink and Americolor Bright White food colorings. The mini heart sprinkles are from HomeGoods!

These are so simple to make that you can absolutely whip them up tonight, and they'll be ready for Valentine's Day tomorrow! Promise! Packaged in bags and tied with a bow, they are so, so cute! Here's a thought...deliver them to your valentine along WITH a cappuccino! (Maybe they'll share!)
