Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel Potato Chips review

Hello, hello! Happy weekend! Today we review Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel Potato Chips. The official name is a little longer: Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel Seasoned Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips. *whew - a mouthful*

To clarify: We have no affiliation with Trader Joe's. I feel sure they have never read this blog and have no idea who we are. Hey, we like being incognito! These reviews are just for us - and for YOU, our fellow Trader Joe's lovers!

Here's the seasoning blend as listed in the bag:

  • sesame seeds
  • natural flavors (hmmm...)
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • black pepper

These EBTBSKCPC come in a 7-ounce bag and cost $2.49. In our store, they were stocked on an endcap display and in the chip section. Check both places. Also, should we just refer to them by the acronym from now on?

Let's review Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel Potato Chips.

She said: Oh so flavorful! Golden yellow and thin, the chips are delightfully crispy and crunchy. The everything bagel seasoning is there but not completely overwhelming. While we're wearing masks, they're perfect. No need to worry much about garlic/onion breath or seeds stuck between teeth. Post-mask wearing, I'd caution against eating these before a big meeting, a date, or packing in your lunchbox if you're hoping to run into your crush. (Mr. E always teases me for reminding him not to eat hummus or something super garlicky before meetings. Just looking out for you guys!)

Overall rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

He (Jack) said: It must be difficult to emulate all of the flavors that typically come in everything bagels, but all I can taste in this is onions. Maybe a hint of general bagel-ness, too. They might as well be called onion chips :(

Overall rating: 2 out of 5 stars

He (Mr. E) said: I’m a Chip Guy, and these are a chip off the old (bagel) block.  Perfect kettle crunch, perfect seasoning, and great as a snack or a side with lunch.  Highly recommend these.  Just don’t eat them before a date or an important meeting (unless it’s via Zoom).  These have a flavor profile that keeps on giving.

Overall rating: 5 of 5 stars

    1. I know! Those 5s from Mr. E are hard to come by! And Jack, who LOVES an everything bagel might have given his lowest rating ever. What is happening?!?

  3. I have to agree with Jack. Onion is the main flavor I get from these chips.

  4. Just purchased the EBTB chips. These are not good. Couldn't even eat 1 complete chip. Overpowered with garlic. Doesn't taste anything like what they are meant to be.

    1. Yep - as a longtime devotee of TJ's and especially the everything bagel sprinkle, these were a big miss. It's all allium, all the time, with a repulsive desiccated sour note. It wasn't a batch issue either: I got two bags because I was so ready to be on board with these, and both were equally inedible. What a bummer!
