Cute Halloween Cookies - Pink Spiders with Sprinkle Legs!

This Halloween, I've really been drawn to PINK! I have no idea why, but my heart goes pitter-patter every time I see a pink Halloween party or tablescape. Next year, I'm sure I'll be back to orange.

I decided to do a take on my hairy-legged spider cookies from 2011 (!!!) and make them pink! These also reminded me of the cutest hairy bat cookies that might be my actual favorite.

Obviously, you can make these in ANY color...and oh, wouldn't an ombre version be cute if you had all of the sprinkles in varying shades of one color! And, um, I made one with multi-colored sprinkle legs because...isn't there one of these in every group?!? (I love her.)

If you're new to cookie decorating, or making cookies with the kiddos, this is a simple and quick little cookie project!

Let's Make Pink Spider Cookies!

You'll need:

Use a #2 tip to outline the spider bodies in pink. Reserve some of this piping consistency icing.

Thin the remaining icing with water to a consistency of thick syrup. Stir the water in gently, a few teaspoons at a time. Ideally, when a ribbon of icing is dropped back onto itself in the bowl, the ribbon should disappear in a 3-second count. If the icing is too thin, stir in sifted powdered sugar.

Cover with a damp dishtowel and let sit for a few minutes. Stir gently to pop any large air bubbles. Pour into a squeeze bottle.

Fill in the outline, using a toothpick to guide to edges and pop air bubbles. Let the icing dry for at least 4 hours.

Thin the remaining pink icing with a bit of water, not as thin as for filling, but to loosen the icing. A ribbon dropped back onto itself will smooth into the other icing and not from a peak. Use a #7 round tip to pipe legs onto the spider.

Immediately, pour pink jimmies over the legs, gently shake off excess.

Let the cookies dry uncovered overnight before stacking or packaging!
