When I saw this deliciousness over at recipegirl.com (great site!), well, I knew it was a must make...and a must make NOW!!! :)
This incredible dessert involves no baking, no whisking, no folding...just adding layers of yummy goodness!
There really is no recipe...here's how you make Ice Cream Sandwich Dessert:
- Place a layer of 12 ice cream sandwiches on the bottom of a 13 x 9" pan. (You'll have to get creative to make the last 4 or so fit.)
- Cover that with a layer of thawed Cool Whip, using the entire regular size tub. (Yes, there is a time and a place for Cool Whip ;).)
- On top of that, generously drizzle on caramel and fudge toppings.
- Sprinkle on Heath Bits.
- Repeat the layers, but instead of Heath bits, cut up Heath or Skor Bars in large chunks and sprinkle those on top. (I used about 5 bars.)
Oh, and all of the possibilities! I KNOW I've seen Cookies 'n Cream Ice Cream Sandwiches and went to three grocery stores looking for them without success (insert internal cursing here). But wouldn't this be fun using the cookies 'n cream sandwiches, fudge sauce and crushed Oreos?!? Mmmmmm.....

ReplyDeleteOh.My.Word.
ReplyDeleteYou know, you could easily cut this recipe in half so you don't have so much to tempt you.
oh just right for mr. Hassle free and delicious!
ReplyDeleteI saw this at RG too and bookmarked it to remember the next time I'm feeding a crowd. Yours look totally delish!
ReplyDeleteThat looks insanely good! I may have to go home and make it tonight!
ReplyDeletelove it! I saw this dessert once and wasn't completely convinced...but I am now officially on board. Again with the easy and delicious...oh, my poor swim suit...not much action this summer ;)
ReplyDeleteOh man what a great idea - my husband's family would love this.
ReplyDeleteI know how crazy you must've felt searching for those cookies & cream ice cream sandwiches! I did the same thing last month, looking for the all-vanilla version of ice cream sandwiches to make an apple pie version of that dessert. I ended up using cinnamon graham crackers, Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream (the best!), apple pie filing, caramel sauce, and Cool Whip. Very good, but the ice cream sandwiches would've made it go faster!
ReplyDeleteYayyyy! So glad you enjoyed this decadent dessert. Perfect for a summer crowd, isn't it?? Thanks for the mention :)
ReplyDeleteGet out! Now I can only dream about this, cause we don't have ANY of the ingredients in Brazil! Or... I could buy a plane ticket to Texas and have a piece (how do you spell cheaptickets.com?)
ReplyDeleteYou are MEAN - to a girl on a diet! Thanks cousin-- it really looks wonderful though and it is so hot outside! :)
ReplyDeletewow this looks so fabulous! what a great idea for a huge crowd!
ReplyDeleteOh this looks AWESOME!!! I was going to make the cake balls again, for hubby's birthday in a few weeks - but now I'm thinking he may like this instead!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Bridget,
ReplyDeleteI have made this before and loved it also....but the crowning glory was the coffee ice cream sandwiches used. We have lots of choices in our ice cream sandwiches here! :)
I am making the Hostess cupcakes for the party!
Aunt Shawn
Aunt Shawn....I expect to see pictures on your blog!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so yummy! What a great summer treat.
ReplyDeleteI knew it was trouble when I found your blog a few months ago- I think I actually said that out loud at the time... =)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea though, my son's birthday party is Sunday and this will be a fun dessert for the adults and kids alike! I looked last night at Smiths and they have cookies and cream, mint choc chip, strawberry vanilla and choc, and blondies along with the basic. The possibilities!
Another note: I sent this to my friend in Wisconsin and she said, "I'm not sending this to anyone until I make it and surprise them - I don't want anyone to beat me to it." I'm doing the same thing - not sharing locally until I make it!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had seen this a week ago. I had a bbq on the weekend and this would have been PERFECT! It was 44 degrees here with the humidity and this cold treat would have been awesome! although it probably would have melted as quickly as we were! :)
ReplyDeleteur own cookies and cream ice cream sandwiches...you buy the chocolate cookie wafer thingys in a bulk foods store...Prepare them ahead and freeze...the cookies turn softjust like at the grocery store...then you are NEVER in a pinch again. Grocery stores ALWAYS have Cookies and cream ice cream on hand....Oh and the wafers you get way more in a package and with the ice cream on sale you just saved your self some cash!
ReplyDeletethis looks to die for... i am definitely making this at the next bbq! Love your site!
ReplyDeleteWow - so yummy and so easy!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect summertime dessert! I love how easy it is:)

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking I can make this for my son's 13th birthday coming up! THANKS!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYUM! I made this last week for company that came over for dinner - big raves from everyone! I proceeded to eat a piece everyday after. My layers didn't look as pretty as yours. Maybe I should have frozen it longer?
ReplyDeleteMelissa...I did make mine a day ahead. Maybe that helped. I also used my bench scraper to cut it.
ReplyDeleteThis looks absolutely disgusting, no wonder Americans are overwhelmingly obese
