Sweet on Trader Joe's: Brazilian Style Cheese Bread

Trader Joe's Brazilian Style Cheese Bread review

This week, we review Trader Joe's Brazilian Style Cheese Bread. I've made Brazilian cheese bread and have been purchasing a frozen version from my regular grocery store lately, so I was happy to spy this at TJ's. I believe it's a fairly new item.

To clarify: We have no affiliation with Trader Joe's. I feel sure they have never read this blog and have no idea who we are. Hey, we like being incognito! These reviews are just for us - and for YOU, our fellow Trader Joe's lovers!

If you're a bread lover like me, you might also want to check our review of Trader Joe's Buttermilk Bread, or this one of their Irish Soda Bread.

You'll find Trader Joe's Brazilian Style Cheese Bread in the freezer section. They're gluten-free. A box costs $3.99 and contains 12 rolls. The instructions say to bake for 6-8 minutes. One note to start, I found they need more like 10-12 minutes.

She says: If I hadn't made these before or tried a version sold at my regular grocery store, I might have given these higher marks. They're good but not as good as they could be. The outside does have that thin, slight crisp layer, but the inside is a bit too heavy. I was expecting the bread to be light, airy, and cheesy - instead, I found it a bit dry and dense. That said, these are an easy gluten-free bread to have on hand for dinner, so if you're searching for something like that, maybe give them a try.

He (Mr. E) says: I don’t always eat Brazilian cheesy bread, but when I do, I choose TJ’s. These are soooo good - you can’t eat just one (not that I tried). If you like soft bread and cheese, you won’t be disappointed. Trader Joe's makes it easy being cheesy.

    100 ml of milk
    40g butter
    1 whole egg
    Salt to taste

1 Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
2 Heat the milk and butter in a pan until it boils.
3 Throw the boiling mixture into the starch and stir to make a paste.
4 Add the grated cheese and mix. Place the egg and mix again. Adjust the salt.
5 Shape the loaves (with oiled hands) and bake over medium heat until golden.

Tip: Don't forget to preheat the oven. In the cold oven, the rolls are misshapen and soft-shelled.

  2. I love those Brazilian Cheese bread. I tried the one on Targets, but now I am so excited to know that Trader Joe's caring it with their own brand. My favorite part when I shop at Trader Joe's is trying their new stuffs. I currently cannot stop eating their Crunchy Crispy Mochi and I believe this Brazilian Cheese bread will be added to my must-have list too. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a nice day!
