Here are two recent entries from Just Something I Made:
Well, this week is Just Something I Made's 2nd blogiversary and guess what Cathe is giving away?!? Bake at 350 Cookies!!!
- With black royal icing, use a #3 tip to pipe the outline of the cake (AmeriColor Super Black). {I really wanted the outline to stand out here...you can always use a #2 tip for a thinner line.}
- Pipe the outline of the flowers with the same tip.
- Thin white royal icing with water to the consistency of thick syrup, let sit several minutes (AmeriColor Bright White).
- Stir with a rubber spatula to pop any air bubbles that have risen to the surface; transfer to a squeeze bottle.
- Fill in the background of the cookie in white.
- Thin the colors for the flowers (AmeriColor Egg Yellow and Deep Pink).
- Fill in the flowers.
- Let sit at least one hour.
- Change the tip on the black icing to a #2 tip. Add the number on the cake, dots on the white icing and pipe over the outline of the flower for definition.
- Let dry overnight.
So, pop on over to Just Something I Made...there may even be some cookies in it for you! ;)

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of frosting do you use that fills in so evenly. I worked in a bakery for a while when in highschool and I never could make my decorations as good as you!! Love them!! ~~ I found your blog through MommysKitchen's blog
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley again. I had a blonde moment ~~ I found your blog through justsomethingimade's blog not mommyskitchen :)
ReplyDeleteBridget, you mentioned to "let dry for at least one hour." Did you not have trouble w/ the black bleeding onto the white?
ReplyDeleteLove your site! Especially like the looks of those cookies. I can hardly wait for Cathe to return! Hope I win!
ReplyDeleteAs always, so creative. I love the colors - very springy!
ReplyDeleteYou make it look so easy. Which I am sure it is not! Super cute cookies and I really love those labels too.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and thanks for the step by step directions.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask you a cookie question? I noticed you outlined with black and filled with white. How do you keep your dark icing from bleeding into your white? It usually happens the day after the cookies are decorated. Is there any way you can prevent this? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe Five of Us and Happy Home...I think using AmeriColor food coloring helps with this. I noticed bleeding a lot more when I use Wilton years ago. That said, they are in my freezer waiting to be shipped and you guys are making me nervous!!! :)
ReplyDeleteNow I know I needed a glass of milk BEFORE I clicked over here! Thanks for sharing and I'll be headed over to JSIM to get myself in even more trouble!
