Aren't they pretty?
Plain M&M's, I can resist. That's why the gumball machine in kiddo's room is filled with them. I don't feel compelled to eat a handful every time I walk in his room. (Certain times of the month, that's another story.) Neither does he....I think because they are always *there*, but you should see other kids walk in his room. It's like they've hit the candy jackpot....a gumball machine of M&M's and a bowl full of pennies.
Pretzel M&M Blondies
1 stick unsalted butter
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp coarse salt
1 and 1/2 c. flour
1 c. pretzel m&m's
fleur de sel (or another sea salt)
Preheat oven to 350. Melt the butter and set aside to cool. Line an 8 x 8" pan with foil, with some hanging over the sides.
Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, vanilla and salt. On low speed, beat in the flour. Stir in the m&m's.
Cool completely in a wire rack in the pan. Lift up the foil and cut into squares.
What is YOUR favorite M&M?
I'm linking these up to TidyMom's fabulous I'm Lovin' It party. Have you been?
I MUST make these. Though my favorite M&M is Peanut Butter!
ReplyDeleteYumm!! My husband loves plain M&M's, but I prefer something in mine. We keep them the plain ones in a jar on the counter and I can resist swiping one. I haven't tried the pretzel ones...yet.
ReplyDeletemy fav is definitely peanut butter, but can these be made with peanut m&ms?? i happen to have some of those.
ReplyDeleteMy fave is PLAIN! Don't mess with the chocolate. ;) I haven't found and tried the coconut ones though. Was so disappointed in the Pretzel M&Ms. meh. I could fill the house with Peanut M&M's and I wouldn't touch a one of them.
ReplyDeleteI love blondies. A long time ago there was a store bought blondie mix you could buy that I thought was so good but I guess they quit making it...I will have to try yours.
ReplyDeleteWe are military and in a few weeks we are leaving Atlanta, Georgia heading to Seoul, Korea. All of our stuff is packed up so we are down to foil pans and dixie plates. But I have TONS of baking goods still so the kids and I have still been baking. Yesterday my kids had so much fun making 7 layer/magic bars...butterscotch, choc. chips, sweetened milk, butter, coconut, graham cracker crumbs...and then sharing their homemade treats with their friends that that will miss so much. But we had to use foil pans and dixie plates...makes for some great memories of our lifestyle I think. Anyway it was a fun baking experience and thought I would share it with the BEST!
Those look yummy. My favorite is the peanut M&M. Have never tried the pretzel ones - I did not even know they existed. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOhhh yum! I just want the batter, lol. ;) Mini M&Ms are my favorite. <3
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried these yet, but have been meaning to...what a great way to try them out!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite m&m's are the original:)
How fun for your son to have his very own m&m gumball machine, pennies provided!
I must say, I like to visit my husband's office because there are about three different m&m machines that require no coins...good thing I don't visit too often:)
YUMMM i haven't even tried the pretzel ones yet! I will now next time i see them :)
ReplyDeleteI just bought a big bag of these m&ms and the bf loves blondies...the only logical next step is to make these... You rock! Thanks!
ReplyDeletePretty much ANY kind of M&M's are great - but dark chocolate are my faves. I got a free bag of the pretzel M&M's when they first came out and they are really good!! I think you have a winner recipe here!
ReplyDeleteThese look so good I ran out to buy pretzel m&m right away and now they are in the oven!!! I can't wait till they are done! My all time favorite m&m is peanut butter, wonder how they would taste in this blondie recipe?
ReplyDeletei think i'm going to try these as well. my faves are the peanut and peanut butter m&m's!
ReplyDeleteOh yum, these look amazing! I have been wanting to try those pretzel M&M's so this will give me a good excuse to! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow, they're really coming out with interesting flavors. My favorite is the crispy M&M's!! But they don't make them anymore! =( The coconut ones aren't that great and there's a peanut butter and jelly one but it tasted very artificial. I have to try these pretzel ones!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea!! I love the new pretzel M&Ms but I miss the peanut butter ones! Those were so yummy!
ReplyDeletewith love and cupcakes,
Cookteen
These look wonderful. I bet they made great blondies. I love M&Ms. Just the plain ones.
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with Eula...I really like the coconut M&M's, however, I can only find them in the single-serving sized package. I heard the pretzel ones were out there, but I haven't actually seen them anywhere yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't know but I'm hoping that they carry Pretzel M&M's in Canada. I haven't seen them but then again I haven't been looking. If I find them you can bet that I'll try these. They look almost as yummy as your Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars which, by the way, we can't get enough of around here.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! This is the best looking blondie EVER!!! I personally love the plain... I love that I can gobble them up in 1 second flat or let them just sit on the tip of my tongue and have the chocolate melt all over. TMI?? ;)
ReplyDeleteBlessings-
Amanda
fantastic!! I just bought a bag of these as I waited in line at the grocery store.. I was pretty impressed, but I have to say the peanut butter ones are still by far my favorite.. I think I can eat one of those HUGE bags all by myself!
ReplyDeletefantastic!! I just bought a bag of these as I waited in line at the grocery store.. I was pretty impressed, but I have to say the peanut butter ones are still by far my favorite.. I think I can eat one of those HUGE bags all by myself!
ReplyDeleteI love sweet and savory desserts! I have to get me some of these pretzel m&m's.
ReplyDeleteThese look really good. I love the "salty/sweet" mixture. Can't wait to make them myself.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite m&m: Peanut!
Yum! Mine is peanut, but the pretzel is a close 2nd! These look good!
ReplyDeleteCan "ALL" be my answer?
ReplyDeleteHey Sweet Girl!
ReplyDeleteOnly YOU...
{i think that's a song!}
Would think to whip up some Blondie's with Pretzel M&Ms!
Haven't tried them yet!
My fave M&M's here lately have been the dark chocolate!
Last weekend Greg and I went to see The Eclipse!
I took a huge bag of M&M's into the movies and sprinkled them in my HOT popcorn!
Guess what happens!
Melted M&Ms!
Sooooooo yummy to get a bit of melted chocolate every now and then when you are munching on your popcorn!
I just know those pretzel M&Ms would be delish sprinkled in movie popcorn!
And I am LOVING that course sea salt sprinkled on those Blondies! YUM-MEEEE!
I know you are getting excited about your trip to MISSOURI!!!!!
Can't wait to hear alllll about it!
You and TIDYMOM are going to be beside your cute selves!!!!!!
xo
seriously hate you now! I have been trying to avoid getting a bag because I know I will be addicted! but that looks so good!

I just bought a huge bag of pretzel m&m's and never thought to actually bake with them! what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYum! I'm all about the peanut M&Ms, but haven't tried these yet. I love chocolate covered pretzels, so I have a feeling these could be really dangerous!
ReplyDeleteThese look so yummy! I'll have to check to see if these M&Ms are tree nut free, my daughter would love this!
ReplyDeleteThese look great. I made some chocolate chip cookie bars with roughly chopped pretzels mixed in last summer. Sounds like these would be similar - that sweet-salty combo is just too good!
ReplyDeleteI need more treats like I need a hole in my head, so of course I want to make these :) I love chocolate and pretzels :)
ReplyDeletePeanut Butter or Almond M&M's (right out of the freezer! yum!) are my favorite. I haven't seen the pretzel ones yet, what a great idea to put them brownies for a sweet/salty crunch!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for a good blondie recipe. I'll try this for sure!
ReplyDeleteOH YUM!!! I've heard of those m&m's...i need to look for them!! The girls would LOVE these brownies!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up!......we're on the train right now
oh man, I've totally seen the commercials but not seen them around. This is so bad, well good...well bad.
ReplyDeleteThis is I'm dieting, so ...well ya know
YUM
Tracy
A gumball machine with pennies provided in his room??? Wow, I wish you were my mom :P
ReplyDeleteI got SO excited when I saw the blue bag - I thought that you had found Crispy M&M's somewhere! These look just as good as the old favorite, though, and I'm certainly an M&M lover!
ReplyDeleteI don't think we get all the cool M&M flavours up here in Canada - I got to taste crunchy while I was in New England and last year in Vegas we tried those peanut butter and jelly ones (which were pretty weird). Now I must hunt down pretzel M&Ms!
ReplyDeleteAll Canadians know, though, that Smarties > M&M :)
I've just realized the possibilities. Regular brownies with peanutbutter m&m's...that's gonna happen at my house soon!
ReplyDeleteThese sound yummy! I haven't made blondies anything in a really long time; I guess now I have an excuse! The M&M pretzels are okay, but my favorite M&M is either the Peanut M&Ms or the Coconut M&Ms.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! Since I don't like chocolate, these will be perfect. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteJust made these and they are YUM!
ReplyDeleteThese look super duper incredible. This is my kind of dessert. I have not tried those M&M's. I keep forgetting when I go to the store. I know I will love them and these blondies too:) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have pretzel m&ms here in Canada.
ReplyDeleteBOOOOOOOO.
These look delish!
PS: Plain are my faves.
These look great:)
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS...you actually got your hands on not one, but 2 bags of those scrumptious M&Ms!?! I love 'em, but they are out of them EVERYWHERE ***sniffles*** Definitely love the idea of using them in baking!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had these yet. Now I must get some and make these blondies!
ReplyDeleteThese look AMAZING!!! I actually picked up a pack of the new M&M's today and decided my waist line didn't need them. But after seeing htis recipe, I hae now decided, I need them! :) Thanks for sharing!

We made these this weekend. They were very kid-friendly (both in the making and the eating). And it was a great excuse to try the new M&Ms. Yummy!
ReplyDeletePeanut butter M&Ms are my very fav. These blondies look amazing and I can't wait to try the pretzel M&M!!

Peanut Butter m&ms are my very fav but I can't wait to try these pretzel ones! Oh and those blondies look divine!
ReplyDeletehttp://culinarycravings.net/
Peanut Butter!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to keep myself from buying them ever visit to the store!!
I really need to try those M&M's... Fortunately for me, I have to go to the store tomorrow, so I will add them to my list! The Blondies sound like a great way to use them, too... Yum!
ReplyDeleteOh I want some. I have been searching for the pretzel M&M. No luck yet.
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing! Definitely going on my 'list of things to bake this summer'!
ReplyDeleteBlame it on my barely-out-of-college-newly-wed budget, but what is the purpose of fleur de sel?
YUM! Those look sooo good. My favorites are the pretzel kind and the peanut butter kind.
ReplyDeleteHOW in the world did pretzel m&m's get by me!
ReplyDeleteNow I need to search them out!
Kahler and Katy...the fleur de sel is up to you. It just adds a little extra punch of saltiness to the sweet. Any sea salt will do. You might check the bulk section of your grocery store. I bought just a tablespoon or so of fleur de sel and use it for "Special Occasions"....like blondies! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love these M&M's and have wanted to make something with them since I first saw them...but here's what keeps happening...I buy a bag for "baking" and then after "only having a few" I need to buy another bag...and another and another. They stand no chance in my house, as would these yummy looking blondies! Thanks for doing the work for me...Now back to the store ;)
ReplyDeleteoo I love the Pretzel M&Ms
ReplyDeleteI have made these several times over the last few months. The crunch of the Pretzel M&Ms is perfect but my family prefers them with Peanut Butter M&Ms. Thank you for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI made these yesterday and they were way too bready. I then went in search of the perfect blondie recipe and found a reliable source that uses almost the exact same recipe but 1 cup flour instead of 1 and a half. She also says to bake for 20 - 25 minutes instead of 30 - 35. I think this would have made them much less dry and much more on the gooey side, as I like my blondies.
ReplyDeletethis looks fun to eat!so chocolatey!
ReplyDeleteI made these. Unfortunately, I used whole wheat flour, which made them taste very wheat-like (go figure) and bland--not at all like blondies normally taste. I am going to try again using regular flour and maybe a bit less of it. I hated to waste m&ms and it was not the recipe's fault--but mine. Anyway, I'll try again soon because these are right up my alley.
