...on my way, to where the air is sweet...
Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame Street?
Today, we're getting to Sesame Street via cookies. I think this guy would approve:
Sesame Street premiered in 1969...the same year I was born.
Cookie Monster was born; Bridget was born. Coincidence? Separated at birth?
Anyhoo...I love Sesame Street. I hear they're making Cookie eat vegetables these days. I really don't want to believe that.
I would have substituted the Elmo cookie cutter for Grover. Or Count. Or Bert. Or Big Bird. (I'm old.) Speaking of Grover, please tell me you have this book for your kids. To this day, it is one of my favorites.
***Keep in mind, if you are making these for a party, you might want to stick with 1 or 2 characters. For these 3 guys, I needed to make 10 different icing colors.***
The cookies here are a new recipe. Are you ready?
They're CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT CUT-OUTS. As in, Nutella Cut-Outs.
You can find the recipe here, in the book!!!
Since the cookies are a deep, dark brown, there was no need to use black icing to fill in the mouths on Cookie Monster or Oscar.
How'd you like a set of these for your own? It seems only appropriate for the week of Jim Henson's birthday. ♥ Kiddo is convinced that "only people with little kids" will enter. I had to remind him that his 42-year-old mother made a special trip to the mall just to purchase these...for HERSELF. ;)

Who is YOUR favorite Sesame Street character?
you were born the same year as cookie monster? it's providence. I LOVE these cookies so much. I feel happy when I look at them. xo
ReplyDeleteHoly cookies! These look amazing. The recipe for the cookies looks amazing as well. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDid you tell your kiddo that your cookie love came from some big blue monster! I want to know how cookie monster keeps that great shape with all those cookies.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! I have my fingers crossed that I get the cutters!! Then I can make myself a batch. also looking forward to your book coming out!
ReplyDeleteYou've totally got the sesame street song stuck in my head now! Love the dark color of these cookies and I can't wait to try a new flavor! Congrats on your book, Bridget!!!!
ReplyDeleteDitto on the song!! :)
Delete1. You did a fabulous job on the characters
ReplyDelete2. Mr Noodle creeps me out
3. The Monster at the End of this Book is one of my 2 year old's favorites. But what he REALLY loves is the iPad version. It's amazing!
Okay my favorite character, if it counts, are the aliens that go yupyupyup uhhuhuhhuh :P I don't know if they have a proper name or not but I love them so!
ReplyDeleteOf the more traditional characters I would have to say the Count!
Yes! Love them!!!
DeleteI love Oscar the Grouch, however my husband is a cookie monster fan all the way!
ReplyDeletelove grover and I have the book, so I have the nutella recipe. =0)yay!!!!
ReplyDeleteDamn, US entries only, that makes me sad :C I found this video of Grover & Cookie monster singing about the Hunger Games, the Avengers, Doctor Who & the Newsroom, it's great!
ReplyDeletehttp://popwatch.ew.com/2012/09/25/cookie-monster-grover-avengers-hunger-games-video-sesame-street/
Those are really cute cookie cutters and I'd love to win a set. I'm going to order your book on Amazon! I was so happy when I found your blog because I love to decorate cookies.
ReplyDeleteI was a little older (19) when Sesame Street first came on the air, but I watched it daily when my daughters were little. I even named my cat after one of the characters!
Gail :)
those are adorable! And "The Monster at the End of this Book" was Maura's favorite. I LOVE that you and Cookie Monster share the same year of birth:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome cookies! Thanks for the giveaway! We have that book and it's companion "Another Monstervat the End of This Book". Great reads! I think there's a tie between Ocsar & Wormy and the Count...ah-ah-ah :D
ReplyDeleteah-ah-ah!!! love.
DeleteOH, I wish these had been around when I did the sesame street party for my son. And yes, we have several copies of that book, one that was mine, one that was my husbands, and one that was given to our first child :)
ReplyDeleteI think these are my favorite cookies you've ever done :)
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely amazing!! You've got some talent there :D
ReplyDeleteOMG- These are too cute!!
ReplyDeleteThese are so adorable!!! Well done :)
ReplyDeleteI love these! SO cute!
ReplyDeleteI recently bought the cutters and have some undecorated cookies in my freezer ready for some royal icing. They are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThese are SOOOO cute!! I love Sesame Street...and I'm really looking forward to watching it with Lucy.
ReplyDeleteI think Oscar is my favorite.
Whoa! These are precious, Bridget!!!! Absolutely precious!
ReplyDeleteYou just brought me back to my childhood!! I LOVED that book! I was a 1969 Sesame Street baby too and will still watch it to this day!! My daughter LOVED Sesame Street, my son, not so much :( THANK YOU for reminding me of that book! ivmall@msn.com
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! I had that book when I was little and I found it last week as a board book. It's going to be a birthday present for my peanut that will be one in less than a month.
ReplyDeleteYour cookies couldn't be any cuter-- these are gorgeous! I am impressed as always by your beautiful decorations.
ReplyDeleteOh they are so cute!
ReplyDeleteSnuffy! Wait, no...the Count!!
ReplyDeleteOh I ADORE these! Oh so much!
ReplyDeleteCookie Monster all the way.....have always loved him even tho I was too old by the time Sesame Street started.
ReplyDeleteI am only a year older than you. Would you believe I still have my Sesame Street LP (as in record) from about 1972/1973? I saw these cutters at William-Sonoma and was tempted to buy them. Maybe I can win them instead!
ReplyDeleteMy son has/had a thing for the Grouch (homemade Halloween costume and all) but I'm more of a Bert girl. LOVE your cookies.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Sesame Street character would have to be Cookie Monster, because I love me some cookies too! Thank you for letting us just be able to leave a comment to enter - I am so not with all the other techy things. Except for Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, I loved Snuffy more than anything in this world (literally - it had to have been those luscious lashes ;) but these days the Count makes me laugh the most, thinking back on Sesame Street. They're both winners!
ReplyDeleteThat Grover book was my favorite growing up! I even bought a copy of it for my newborn niece when she was born. She'll grow up loving it too!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely had that Grover book!! And Elmo shouldn't have been in the set since he wasn't an original character. Laurel used to love Mr. Noodle though.
ReplyDeleteSuper Cute Miss B! I've been pretty lucky to have grown up with Sesame Street and again with my kiddies.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is and has always been Grover, but as a cookie lover, can TOTALLY appreciate Cookie Monster.
These are so ridiculously cute, I almost can't stand it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely LOVE these!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I make my four year old watch Sesame Street against his will too... :) LOVE these cookies!
ReplyDeleteI saw these Cookie Cutters and was really tempted to buy it but I don't have much skill in deocrating :( I love that book, one of my childhood favorites!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is furry fuzzy and blue lovable ol' GROVER!!!
ReplyDeleteMy little girl never got into Sesame Street. I would try and try and tell her "I PROMISE you'll like it!" She's two now and I feel like I'm forcing her at this point. But she loves Elmo and Abby Cadabby! She just doesn't want to see them on the television. Weird...but I wonder how she feels about the cookie versions?! I can't wait to make her these!
ReplyDeleteMaybe there is a name/diagnosis for fear of certain Sesame Street characters? My daughter (now 27) would absolutely freaked out when Placido Flamingo would come on - so badly that while at the neighbors whom I had forgot to mention this little "issue" to, she caught a glimpse of him and went into a raging breakdown - the neighbor called in a panic - I knew immediately.... "Turn the TV off - QUICK" We laughed forever....she, however, would not find this at all entertaining. Well, to my previous question - the fear of Sesame Street Character(s)? How about talking&lifelikefakefur&fleecephobia - muppetphobia was just to accusatory.
ReplyDeleteThe cookies are fantastic! As usual, you've outdone yourself! Have a blessed day!
Haha!
DeleteI was also born the year of Sesame Street.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Ernie. (insert his scratchy wheezy giggle here)
Oscar the Grouch was always my favorite. He gave the show something I could relate to as I had a grouchy big brother named Oscar.. LOL
ReplyDeleteI have 2 young boys that would love these (4 yr old and 7 month old)! My favorite character was Snuffy...but Slimey is adorable also. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou always have the most amazing cookies. I can always tell which cookies are yours when I browse pinterest.
ReplyDeleteI loved Big Bird
ReplyDeleteCookie Monster
ReplyDeleteCookie Monster, for sure.
ReplyDeleteElmo..he's so cute:)
ReplyDeleteGrover has always been, and will always be, my favorite Sesame Street character. :)
ReplyDeletenice blog
ReplyDeleteLove these~very cute!
ReplyDeletetoo cute!!!
ReplyDeleteMy fave is probably Oscar. Although Grover (Arm Flail) runs a close second. Then there is Snuffy...Oh goodness, now that I think about it I can't decide.
ReplyDeleteWait, Oscar, definately Oscar. But then I also like Eeyore and Dopey the best so...
Love, love, love your renditions.
These are a masterpiece! Or rather, a "monsterpiece"! Monsterpiece Theater is one of my favorite Sesame Street skits. I don't have any kiddos but I'd still love to have a set of these cookie cutters. I grew up watching Sesame Street every day! :)
ReplyDeleteI love them all, except Elmo does bug me now and then. Where is the Big Bird cookie cutter, that seems like a strange omission?
ReplyDeleteI just had to add that I LOVE The Monster at the End of this Book! It was a favorite book growing up. I have also introduced it to many young children over the years who loved it as well. It's so cute! And so much fun to read with the 2-4 year old crowd who really believe they are foiling Grover's plans. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love all of the Sesame Street characters, esp. Cookie Monster and AbbyCaddabby-my niece 's name is Abby and I always call her that!
ReplyDeleteCookie Monster!
ReplyDeleteFirst words when this popped in my newsfeed...."Oh My Goodness" Those cookies are AHMAZING! :) My daughter Loves sesame st and it's really cute when she figures out how to say their names. Her favorite is Count Von Count.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at this. I was born in 66 and grew up with them. My mom didn't keep much of our stuff from childhood, but when I visited her last year, she showed me my Sesame Street Record albulm. The kiddies didn't know records, so that alone was a treat! I can't believe I remembered "I love trash", and Bert and Ernie's pigeon song. Oh my...The laughter we shared. These look amazing!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! And my 4-year old and I are going to Sesame Street Live in November... they'd be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI, too, forced my kids to watch Sesame Street and they HATED IT! I think it's a generational thing. Growing up in a small South Texas town circa 1972, Sesame Street seemed so exotic - a corner store, African Americans, big city parks! I especially loved the scenes in the parks because our "parks" were our backyard and cotton fields. Do you remember the Pinball song that counted to 12? I still get that one stuck in my head.
ReplyDeleteOne, two, three, four, five...six, seven, eight, nine, ten...eleven, TWEEEEELLLLLVVVVVEEE!
DeleteCan you tell us which colors you used for the icing?? thanks!
ReplyDeleteSure...let's see:
DeleteCM: royal blue, bright white, super black
OtheG:leaf green mixed with avocado, bright white, super black (for grey & black), super red
E: orange, super black, bright white, egg yellow, super red, electric pink
(All AmeriColor colorings)
Grew up on Sesame Street episodes...love these!
ReplyDeleteI was on this show as little girl for 4yrs. and my all time favorite character was and still is Oscar the Grouch!!!
ReplyDeleteMy grandson and daughter would LOVE these!!!
Really?!? Oh, how NEAT is that?!?
DeleteHow easy do you think these would be for a beginner to decorate? Love them but I'm a total cookie decorating newbie!
ReplyDeleteCookie Monster and Elmo would be the easiest to start with. :) If you do Ernie or Oscar, I'd pick one...it starts getting confusing when you have 17 colors, some thinned,, some not, spread all over your kitchen counter.
DeleteThey'll be cute no matter what!
Super cute!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! That is my favorite book of all times and I love reading it to my 3 year old.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE The Monster at the End of This Book! I have my kids hooked on it, too. ;) The one with Elmo joining in isn't bad, but it's just not as good as the original. We just read it last night with my 5 year old.
ReplyDeleteYour cookies are so cool!!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute are these Cookie Monsters!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm loving Oscar's bushy eyebrows!
Can't wait to try out the Chocolate Nutella Roll Out Cookies!
You do know I've never tasted Nutella!
I like to throw that in to SHOCK you every now and then!
Can't wait to get home to my book and love on it and browse through the pages!
Congrats Sweetie!
These cookies honestly almost jump out of the computer and dance and sing they're so colorful and happy!
xoxo
Ummm...Teresa: "You do know I've never tasted Nutella!
DeleteI like to throw that in to SHOCK you every now and then!" is shocking to Mister E as well! ;-)
Besides the answer I gave that does not show I love Snuffy and always wish we had one :)
ReplyDeleteFun give away!
Super Grover is my hero! Love him!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, can't wait to try these my daughter loves elmo and zoe, I am thinking it wouldn't be to hard to turn elmo into zoe. I received my copy of your book today, it's amazing! My next project are mario bros. cookies for my nephews bday.

ReplyDeleteTotally love Super Grover!
ReplyDeleteThese cookies are super cute, but I have to say... chocolate hazelnut cookies???? I love you :)
ReplyDeleteBridget, Just received your book the other day and it was like Christmas. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute, and sound delish! I was a MASSIVE Sesame Street fan when I was little. My favorite character then was Big Bird, but my favorite character now is Grover...especially when he is SUPER GROVER!
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny that he hated Mr. Noodle!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! and Nutella?! c'mon!
Cookie monster is the best all the way
ReplyDeleteThe Monster at the End of this book was my favorite when I was little! Glad it still holds up!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved Grover and Snuffy. I have always adored Sesame Street to begin with. To top it off though, my friend is going to be in the cast of Sesame Street Live and is Zoe! :) So I'll definitely be getting my fill of Sesame Street. Of course, who could dislike Cookie Monster when you are making COOKIES? Hehe :) I would so love a set of these cutters. YUM and CUTE! I would make these for just me let alone friends children or family.
ReplyDeleteI always liked Big Bird. My 3 year old son loves Elmo!
ReplyDeleteso cute!! I love that they imprint for you - should help me dramatically :)
ReplyDeleteThat is still my favorite book and I'm 37 :-) I repeatedly buy it as a baby shower gift so, of course, Grover and his alter-ego Super Grover are my favorites. I did have an awesome Oscar the Grouch alarm clock though that woke you up to "Wake Up! It's gonna be another grouchy day!" Love the cookies!
ReplyDeleteI am also in my 40's and I adore Sesame Street, and yes, I still have the Monster at the End of this Book. I read it to my son and daughter when they were little and now I have 5 grandchildren who love it! :)
ReplyDeleteOnly 100 comments? Too bad this post didn't generate any interest. LOL
ReplyDeleteCute cookies Bridget! My favorite SS character was always The Count!
I love Sesame Street! Adorable cookies and the cookie recipe sounds sensational. I need to get your book ordered ASAP.
ReplyDeleteI always love super Grover.
ReplyDeleteElmo was always my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI actually work at Williams-Sonoma, and made these cookies to display in the store. I found it easier to make only 2 characters at a time, to cut down on the number of frostings I have to use. Another trick, especially useful for kids, is to tint the cookie dough the color of the character, so all you have to decorate is the eyes and mouth.
ReplyDeleteLove the cookies (always do)...would love to enter but alas, I live in Canada *sigh* Sesame Street was my favorite show as a little girl and my kids just didnt get into it (so sad). BUT my daughter does have "the monster at the end of this book" and it was one of her favorites, so that helps :o)
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful and cute, Bridget!
ReplyDeleteLove these! Before I had my kiddo, I hoped he would never get into Elmo or Barney (thankfully we have steered clear of Barney) but Elmo is his fav...luckily Elmo has grown on me. My first car was a light blue Hyundai Sonata...so I named him Grover and had a "GROVR" license plate. Growing up I think Big Bird and Snuffy were my favorites...and Barkley, does anyone remember Barkley??
ReplyDeleteDarling!!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Thanks for sharing these.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Miss Piggy. These days I think she appears more with The Muppets than on Sesame Street - but I think she's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI also adore my "furry old pal, Grover." He's just so cool!
I am wishing you every success with your book!
oh i would love these for my littlest and my new twin nephews!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved CoooooKeeeee. He's still my favorite. I hope he doesn't turn orange from eating carrots. I "kidnap " kids to makes cookies with me, and then we have a tea party afterward. No disclosure on my age though :-).
ReplyDeleteI have not been on your blog in a while and to ight it seems I'm all over it! But I have to comment on the monster book. That is my favorite book ever. I bought it for my son and could not wait to read it to him. Then I did and he looked at me like I was crazy. He didn't get it! Then I reread it and realized I don't know if any small child would get it. I love it though and now am reading it to my youngest daughter.
ReplyDeletedid the winner ever get announced??
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party, but I had to comment. My 21 month old daughter loves Sesame Street. Until Mr. Noodle comes on. She slid down from her perch the other day with big tears welling up in her eyes because he'd come on. Heartbreaking, and hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHow cute!! My daughter never misses Sesame Street. I used to watch it with her and I really like sesame street characters names and found them unique and sweet.
ReplyDelete
