12 Days of Trader Joe's Christmas, Day 10: Chocolat en Croute

Trader Joe's review: Chocolat en Croute

I hope you're not tired of these Trader Joe's reviews. We're certainly not tired of trying all of these new goodies.

Trader Joe's review: Chocolat en Croute ... maybe the BEST Trader Joe's item ever.

Today, our review is of Trader Joe's Chocolat en Croute. It's described as "a puff pastry dessert filled with almond cream and chocolate." You'll find this in the freezer section, and it requires about 45 minutes of baking.

She says: This might be my favorite treat from Trader Joe's EVER. The first thought that occurred to me upon eating it was that if I was in the movie Love Actually, I'd be standing in front of this pastry holding a sign that reads, "To me, you are perfect." The pastry is buttery and flaky. The filling is the perfect marriage of almond and chocolate. Served warm, it is utterly delightful. I'm smitten.
Overall rating: 10 of 5 stars (yes, I can do that)

He says (Jack): WOW! This stuff is amazing! This could have come out of a French patisserie, and I wouldn't have known the difference. The almonds are a nice touch, and the chocolate being a little chunky is definitely an interesting twist as opposed to being purely melted.
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Trader Joe's review: Chocolat en Croute

Trader Joe's Chocolat en Croute: YES, may we have another?

[note: We have no affiliation with Trader Joe's. I'm sure they have never read this blog and have no idea who we are. Hey, we like being incognito, although we never wear sunglasses indoors. ;)]

  1. I absolutely love, love, love and look forward to your Trader Joe's reviews! Unfortunately the closest one to me is at least an hour's drive away so I typically am able to only visit TJ's about once a month. Your reviews really give me a good guide of what to try and I appreciate that. Thanks again and Happiest New Year!

  2. What a cool blog series! I haven't followed any blogs for a long time now but I have to make some sugar cookies and I remembered how fabulous yours always are. :) So happy to find this TJ's series and I hope some of these products might still be hanging around and aren't all gone for the season! (side note: the chocolat en croute sounds a lot like the chocolate croissants that they regularly stock, just in case you can't find it in the off-season.)

  3. Thanks for your helpful sharing. I have read that knowledge very much, it gives me a lot of things.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! If you have a recipe question, please reach out on twitter or instagram. :)
