Here's mine. Peanut Butter Blossoms. PB Blossoms are little sugar-dipped peanut butter cookies with a Hershey's Kiss perched perfectly on top.
You've probably eaten them...and you might just have the recipe in your arsenal. If you don't, you need it. These babies get scarfed up by kids and grown-ups alike.
{PS....I have written in my cookbook (do you write in your cookbooks?) that the 1st time I made these was when kiddo was 7. He said these were the "most fun" recipe he's ever helped make.}
Peanut Butter Blossoms
{ever so slightly adapted from The King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. creamy peanut butter (I use Skippy Natural)
1/3 c. sugar (plus more for rolling)
1/3 c. light brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp coarse salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 & 1/2 c. unbleached, all-purpose flour
Hershey's Kisses (7 ounces)
Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 375.
Using the paddle attachment, beat the butter and peanut butter until blended. Add both sugars and beat until light and fluffy. Add in the egg through vanilla and mix until thoroughly combined. Add in the flour in 3 additions. Scrape the bottom and side of bowl as needed.
Place extra granulated sugar on a plate. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll in the sugar.
Place coated dough balls on the parchment-lined sheets. Bake cookies until the are a very light golden color, about 10 minutes. (Meanwhile, unwrap the kisses.)
Remove the cookies from the oven and it's go time! Immediately place a kiss on top of each hot cookie, pressing down slightly.
{Kids LOVE to help with this part!}
Transfer cookies to a cooling rack to cool completely.
My favorite part? How the heat from the warm cookie makes the kisses soft and melty. You want one now, don't you? Oh, and here's how I eat them....I eat all around the perimeter of the cookie, saving the Hershey's Kiss with a bit of cookie on the bottom for the *perfect* last bite.
Are you sold yet? Wanna try a Peanut Butter Blossom?
We LOVE these at our house. The first time we ate them my oldest called them Belly Button Cookies and the name has stuck. YUMMY!! I think I need to make a batch.
ReplyDeletePS: we have also had them with the caramel filled kisses and it is equally delicious!!
My mom used to make those at Christmas and they were one of my favorite cookies to eat Christmas Eve while dad read to us. Such great memories!! Beautiful pics! Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteMy kids love these cookies. What could be better than peanut butter and chocolate?!
ReplyDeleteThese were my mom's favorite cookies ever! She called them Peanut Blossoms or Brown Eyed Susans. Though she would sometimes call them Brown Eyed Christinas while I was growing up since I have brown eyes. I made them for my family for the first time fairly recently (why'd it take me so long? I have no idea) and everyone LOVES them! I now call them Brown Eyed Ashlyns because of my daughter. :) They're a definite favorite.
ReplyDeleteMy boys love these and the ones you put Rolos in the center of the dough. Just love candy cookies!
ReplyDeleteThese look delicious and you make it sound so easy! I am going to try this one as I get back to baking. Thanks for sharing :) ~Molly
ReplyDeleteI love PB Blossoms. And I eat them exactly the same way! I've learned that I can make the cookies just a bit smaller, and then the cookie to kiss ratio is perfect.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that you wrote that little note in your cookbook - what a nice way to save memories associated with recipes.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I eat them! I love Hershey's kisses. Mmmmmmmmm...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these cookies! When we make them at Christmastime, we usually put them back in the oven for a few minutes and let the kiss melt a little bit. They're delicious!
ReplyDeleteI think these cookies are ones that fall into the 'comfort cookie' category. I loved them when I was 10 and I still love them today! Yours look perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh, memories. These were the cookies I used to make at Christmas time at our house growing up. I just shared my fav cookie THE Perfect Choco Chip today as well! Thanks for Sharing!
ReplyDeleteyum!!! I heart blossoms! btw, launching an online party magazine in March - we have $5 business card style ads available, I think our readers would love you was much as I do! Let me know if you are interested!

Wow...never sawn this...must be delish....
ReplyDeleteI have so many memories with peanut blossoms! My grandma used to make these every time we came to visit.
ReplyDeleteMy go to cookie is a chocolate mint cookie that tastes exactly like a girl scout thin mint but it is soft!
That's what I made too...except I used the pre-made cookie dough shortcut. I will def be trying your recipe next time!
ReplyDeleteYum!!! We are huge fans of this cookie :D And yes, I write in my cookbooks too!
ReplyDeleteI have so many memories with peanut blossoms. My grandma used to make these for us every time we came to visit.
ReplyDeleteMy go to cookie is a chocolate mint cookie. It tastes exactly like a girl scout thin mint, but is a soft cookie!
Yum!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites too!
ReplyDeleteI love love peanut butter blossoms. It looks great.

ReplyDeleteNo wonder you always bake these; they look delicious! I want one!
ReplyDeleteThis is my go to cookie recipe too! I wrestled the recipe away from a friend about five years ago. I actually put the chocolate kisses on and place the pan back in the oven for the last minute of baking (to ensure sustained soft and melty goodness).
ReplyDeleteI love these too, but only have them at Christmas. In fact, just seeing the pics made me think of Christmas. LOL!
ReplyDeletemy only qualm with these guys is when the kiss has cooled, I dont know how to bite into the cookie exactly. Nibble around? pop the kiss (get stabbed in the roof of your mouth)? try to bite the kiss?...it can be an unfortunate situation for me sometimes, but still yum! :)
ReplyDeletemmm! I do something similar but I use half a reese's mini cup instead of a kiss. yum! extra PB gooey goodness!
ReplyDeletemmmmmmmm...I´m going to try that!!!!
DeleteYummy!
ReplyDeleteThey seem very nice and tasty.
ReplyDeleteYUUMMMY-these look oh so good!! I've picked up the skippy natural pb but never actually bought it cuz I thought it would be gross and grainy like some other brands I've tried-but these don't look grainy at all:)
ReplyDeleteI make these every year at Christmas. Last year I used a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup instead of a Hershey Kiss. I've also used the Chocolate truffle Hershey kisses and the PB filled kisses.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I've never ever tried one of these and now I really want one. I'm missing out, they look yummy!
ReplyDeleteLooks yum! I will try them! I always make coconut macaroons (Dutch recipe) to bring with me as a homemade gift. I really like your blog! Bye,
ReplyDeleteMelanie
I do love these!
ReplyDeleteyes please!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks to you I know want cookies at 7am! haha!
These are as sweet as that notation in your cookbook.
ReplyDeleteI love anything with peanut butter and chocolate, as I'm sure you can tell from this post, http://fromtheheartsof.blogspot.com/2011/02/girl-scout-cookie-time.html. I will definetly being trying and adding this recipe to my arsenal!
ReplyDeleteWhat a HAPPY HAPPY cookie!
ReplyDeleteYour house must be so WARM and COZY!
I just know the cookies you bake are a reflection of everything about YOU...and all that makes you so wonderful Miss Bridget!
These are the PERFECT little cookie!
I do LOVE these...and adore YOU!
xo
How funny...I made these on Sunday for my boys! There is nothing better then peanut butter and chocolate...except chocolate, peanut butter and banana (bread that is). I make a basic banana bread (Joy of Cooking) and add chocolate chips and peanut butter chips and it's HEAVEN!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny that you posted this. My husband was just asking me if I had a recipe for these. I've had them, but never made them. Guess I have some work to do, huh? :o)
ReplyDeleteThese cookies are a classic favorite for a reason:)
ReplyDeleteMy answer is YES I want to make these! They look so good.
ReplyDeleteI always love these. We roll them in red and green sparkles during holiday time too.
ReplyDeleteYum! We love these at our house! I like to spread the chocolate around on the cookie when it is warm and melty so that when they cool off more of the cookie has chocolate on it:)
ReplyDeletePeanut butter blossoms are one of my favorite cookies... Everyone in my family loves the chocolate peanut butter combo. Sometimes we make them with Reese's peanut butter cups, too. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I do write in my cookbooks. My mom always did that, and I have since carried on the tradition. I'm also guilty of sticking post-it notes with recipe ideas all over them, too!
My family has been making these as long as I can remember! Delicious and fool proof- just how I like 'em! I love eating them right away so the kiss is still gooey and melted. Yummm, my mouth is watering just thinking about them!
ReplyDeletepeanut butter blossoms are always on my grandmother's christmas cookie tray :) such sweet nostalgia.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorites, too! Peanut butter is a hit at home.
ReplyDeleteYummy. I can try this to my community here at Vegan Cooking For Carnivores . Thanks for posting
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love simple yummy cookies?
ReplyDeleteThese are one of my top five cookies. A winner for anyone at any age!
ReplyDeleteWe love them too and we found a Paula Deen recipe that does not require flour, which makes them Gluten Free :)
ReplyDeleteThese are such fun cookies to make! Love!
ReplyDeleteOh yummmmm you are making me want to make those now :)
ReplyDeleteI eat them the exact same way! Definitely one cookie that I can't pass up. Thanks for sharing your technique. I haven't made them yet by rolling them in sugar, that sounds even better.
ReplyDeletehow many peanut butter blossoms does the recipe make?
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and over time my family has enjoyed delicious cookies courtesy of your amazing recipes. That being said after all of your posts about stunning royal icing cookies I finally felt confident to try them. I am proud to say I chose a simple flower and I outlined and flooded with one color ,and they came out really pretty. So thank you for such a wonderful and beatiful blog, I am a big fan.
ReplyDeleteI eat Peanut Butter Blossoms the exact same way!! These cookies always remind me of Christmas when I was a little girl- my Mom let my sister and me unwrap the kisses and put them on the cookies. We felt so responsible and important! I love cookies that have such happy associations.
ReplyDeletetempting.
ReplyDeletecan i make these without the egg. is there anything else that i can use in place of the egg.
thanks
Well I can see these peanut butter blossoms being a hit at my house, we all love peanut butter and chocolate, thanks for the recipe to try.
ReplyDeleteI've made these before and they are sooo fabulous! Your pictures are temping me to bake em again ;)
ReplyDeleteMary xx
Delightful Bitefuls
Have you ever tried them with reese's peanut butter cups instead of the hershey's kisses??? If you like peanut butter, you should give them a try! SOOOO yummy!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe! can't wait to make them!
ReplyDeleteHello, I’m your newest follower. I hope you will follow me too :-) I look forward to seeing all your new creations :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are one of my favorite cookies! But unfortunately they're not my go to recipe, in fact I've never made them before. I know: its crazy!
ReplyDeleteThese are mostly a Christmas cookie in my family too. I discovered that these are a great use for kisses that have accidentally gotten overheated. (When they turn gray and the texture goes weird?) The heat from the cookie fixes that!
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable! And I bet delicious too.
ReplyDeleteYummy!
ReplyDeleteI want to make this!(so now I in Paris, hope that I find a Hershey's Kiss...)
Merci for your reply to my e-mail,I linked your blog :)
Would you believe I have NEVER made these?!?!!! What is wrong with me? You are right, I DO want one right now! :)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful cookies. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteMy family and I love peanut butter blossoms! I do one thing differently though, instead of putting the Hershey kiss point side up, we put them in point side down. They take up much less room this way when storing them in containers and you don't hurt the roof of your mouth when you bite into them!

ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I made these twice already this week, and even put green food coloring in today for our St. Patrick's Day Party tonight! Yum...
ReplyDeleteI think that my family is the only one that rolls the dough balls in powdered sugar as opposed to the granulated kind. They're a little messier, but it helps them stay so soft!
ReplyDeletewow someone else that does it this way, I am amazed =) Been looking for the last couple hours thought I was losing my mind lol
DeleteYou never mentioned when to add the salt or baking powder... I guessed. Also, mine smoked in the oven, turned out perfectly on top, with burnt bottoms. My husband is currently eating the tops off of them before I can throw them away.
ReplyDeleteCould i do the same for candy cane kisses? please answer back... Should i take out the peanut butter? Or forget the idea all together? AAAAHHH! My nephews are a-coming in two days. And my sister will devour me if i do not have any baked goods prepared!!! HehHe. No pressure guys.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing.
