Sweet on Trader Joe's Sunday: Chocolate Covered Lebkuchen Cookies

Trader Joe's Chocolate Covered Lebkuchen Cookies review
Well, here we are at 7:47pm on a Sunday night because someone *cough, me* forgot to write the Trader Joe's post earlier today. We had the item, I had Mr. E's review...I lost track of time...and my mind, apparently.

Anyhoo. We're reviewing Trader Joe's Chocolate Covered Lebkuchen Cookies. These are a holiday item and are also available in a non-chocolate version. A package of 7 cookies will set you back a cool $2.69. The cookies are described as "soft gingerbread with nuts & spices."

He says: I do like the "soft gingerbread" aspect. Definitely different. The spice level is good but didn't detect any nuts, as mentioned in the description. I'm a chocolate fiend, so the thin coating left me wanting more chocolate.

She says: Oh gosh. I really don't like giving less than 3.5 stars on anything, but these (as I taught Jack to say as a toddler) "aren't my favorite." I love gingerbread, I love chocolate. I love them together. I'll tell you what I don't like here - the lemon. It's too much for me. One of my grandmothers used to make pumpkin pie with lemon extract, and I love you Nana T, but I did not like that pie. That said, I don't have a sophisticated palate (I'll eat Cool Whip with a spoon), so...

  1. Thank you for the heads up review. They're a tad pricey for 7 cookies, so it's appreciated to hear your impression in case I was tempted.

  4. I grew up in Germany so Lebkuchen is a must. They do have a lot of candied fruit and the glaze or coating is always very thin. Having said that, the TJ Lebkuchen are definitely a bargain - high quality compared to a lot of German supermarket Lebkuchen.
