Sweet on Trader Joe's Sunday: Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Hey TJ's lovers! Happy weekend! Happy Summer!

Trader Joe's review: Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Today, we bring you a review of Trader Joe's Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. This is similar to the "break and bake" dough you might have seen from another brand. The dough is portioned into pieces which you break apart and bake at home.

One package has 16 pieces of dough and costs $3.49. You'll find it in the refrigerated section near the yogurt.

Trader Joe's review: Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

A mom's (my) take: I think Will Rogers said it best, "I never met a chocolate chip cookie I didn't like," (or something like that). That was me, going into this review except....I didn't really like them. The dough is too dark, too molasses-y, too something. I don't get that good hit of salt that I love in a classic chocolate chip cookie and the chocolate chunks? Not enough of them. (I ate two cookies just to be sure.)
Overall rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

A teenager's (Jack's) take: These are amazing, and they are certainly true to the title: the cookies are absolutely filled with chocolate! It's the classic melty, buttery cookie experience that we all love... My only complaint with these is that the chocolate isn't really complemented by anything else. The "cookie dough" part of this isn't really noticeable at all and doesn't have much of its own flavor. But that aside, I definitely recommend these.
Overall rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

  1. I was so intrigued by your review of buttermilk bread I made an extra trip to our local TJs only to find that they don't carry it and never heard of it. It must not be carried nationwide. I'm hoping that the bread will be on the CT stores soon.

  3. I used to really love these and then all of a sudden I got them recently and they weren't that good anymore. I wonder if they changed their recipe or if I changed!

  4. Adding a very small sprinkle of salt to these cookies makes them much better. They just felt so bland to me while packing in so much chocolate and brown sugar. Salt did the trick!
