Cookie Dough Popcorn

Cookie Dough Popcorn

Cookie decorator extraordinaire, LilaLoa, has a new book out and it's not about cookies - it's about popcorn! Gourmet Popcorn: 100 recipes for any occasion by Georganne Bell is a beautiful and fun book full of fanciful ways to dress up popcorn.

You'll find both sweet and savory popcorn recipes inside. I know Mr. E is going to be ALL ABOUT those savory options. You know, though, that I started with sweet. Cookie Dough Popcorn, hello!!!

That Frosted Animal Cracker popcorn is next on my list.

One thing I love about Georganne's book is that she makes popcorn on the stove the exact same way I do. This method truly makes for the best microwave here. (I think I just outed myself as a popcorn snob. I blame my dad.)

Let's make it. First, pop your popcorn.

Next up, mix the "cookie dough" ingredients. I used the toasted flour method that I used for the cookie dough pretzels just to be on the safe side. Totally up to you.

Toss the cookie dough mixture with the popcorn. I highly recommend having a cookie sheet and a bowl for tossing. Also, these salad hands are perfect for the job.

Last but not least, toss in the mini chocolate chips.

Cookie Dough Popcorn

(from Gourmet Popcorn by Georganne Bell)

10-12 cups popped popcorn (here's how I pop mine)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cups light brown sugar
1/3 cup flour (toasting optional)
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Place the popcorn in a large bowl with a rimmed cookie sheet underneath. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, flour, salt, and vanilla together. Pour over the popcorn, stirring to coat as you pour. Toss to distribute evenly.

Add the chocolate chips and toss again. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for up to a week.

  1. What a creative and fun idea to make with kids! I love popcorn ♥

  2. This looks yummy! How did it taste the second day? I see that you have it listed as lasting a week, but I'm wondering if the popcorn gets stale/less crispy because of the moisture from the cookie dough? Thanks!

  3. Well written text. I like the way you say it.
