After Christmas, we got hooked on Amanda's Blueberry Kale Smoothies (the only way my boys will eat kale willingly). One reason I love that smoothie is that it calls for just water and the fruit/veggies. No yogurt, no milk, no tofu....just water. So easy!
Here's a smoothie we came up with....ALIEN JUICE!!!
{I had every intention of calling these "Chic Chartreuse Smoothies," but as soon as kiddo saw them, he dubbed the smoothies, "Alien Juice!"}
All you need...
1 c water
1 c (organic if you can find it) frozen mango chunks
1 handful rinsed organic baby spinach
(you *have* seen the report on pre-washed spinach, right? No? Take my word for it....RINSE IT!)
1 banana
juice from 1/2 small lemon
Blend it all together. That's it!
So, smoothies work for us. Sometimes, kiddo even asks for these instead of a cookie!!! {What is wrong with that child?}
What's your vote?
Alien Juice...
or, Chic Chartreuse Smoothie?
oh that looks great!

ReplyDeleteI make green smoothies too, orange,red grapes,kiwi,spinach,apple if I have it and COLD water.
We make 90% of our smoothies with fruit and water. No milk, no yogurt. Water/ice.

That looks fun and yummy! I need one of those immersion blenders! I had no idea they were that cheap! Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteOkay the picky kid that is well still 24 year old me who hates spinach but is trying to get more nutrients has to ask...how does the spinach blend in taste and texture wise? I love mango/banana/lemon and want to try it...just nervous. Help!
ReplyDeleteMust be Alien Juice! Don't know if I could get my kid to drink it but I think I will give it a try.

ReplyDeleteHow about Chic Alien Juice? The other word will be too hard for the little ones to repeat. Sounds yummy. Can a regular blender be used? I'd like to try it but don't have the other thing. This smoothie thing is new to this oldie.lol.Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteJust this....yes, sure you can use a regular blender! :)
ReplyDeleteCassie & bird...no, I don't taste spinach. I don't think baby spinach has a strong flavor and with the other ingredients, I don't think you'll notice it.
ReplyDeleteLOL I love the name debate! I vote for Alien juice... just cause it sounds disgusting and fun and my kids would LOVE that!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative.. I am so going to try this next!!
Blessings!
Amanda
I really haven't met a healthy smoothie that I actually like. They all just sound disgusting! So I vote for alien juice!! Oh, and I have two of those very same immersion blenders, but they aren't for smoothies - they are for soap!
ReplyDeleteThese look great.. I love the name Chic Chartreuse Smoothies. :) I have always been a bit skeptical about adding greens to a smoothie, but I think I'll have to give it a try now. I have some fresh spinach from our CSA just waiting to be used!
